Coming of an amazing freshman year where she was elected as the EAGL Rookie of the year. Expected to do great things during her sophomore campaign and also expected to be one of the top all-around competitors for the Terrapins.
1997: As a freshman, she consistently posted all-around scores above 38.0. Set a new Maryland gymnastics record by scoring a 39.250 in all-around competition against Radford. Included in that performance were first place finishes on both the beam and the floor. In addition, in Maryland�s first meet against Rhode Island, she posted a meet high on the beam (9.850), setting a new Terrapin individual record. Finished 13th in all-around competition at the EAGL championships with a 38.175 and tied for sixth on the uneven bars (9.85). Selected to both the EAGL second teams for bars and all-around. Competed in the NCAA Southeast Regionals on the uneven bars, finishing 14th with a score of 9.725.
